I think anyone who wants to raise so many children should also have "assurities" that they will not become a burden on the state if the parents should die or become incapacitated.
I hear she is trying for her 20th child already... And I am sorry, but "be boutiful and multiply" is a concept whose time has come and gone. This old earth of ours is already groaning at the seams. With China doing there best to limit birth, don't we think it is time for the rest of us to follow suit?

Actually, they thought that the birth control was the reason for the woman's miscarriage and so stopped using all forms of birth control saying that it was "God's will" for them to have that many children, or something to that extent.
Personally, I find that these people are rather irresponsible to have that many children. After all not every child will receive equal attention and maybe neglected emotionally. I also find the lack of birth control thingy kind of strange. It caused the woman to be pregnant at what 43,44 years old, when the child could be at risk for all kinds if disorders and what not. And yet they behave all so easily about it, like the woman gave birth everyday or something.
The television program featuring the Duggar family should be "must see TV" in every high school so students can observe good parenting before entering the adult world where they will be facing some of the same issues this family does so well.
BTW - They belong to a church close to where I live, they pay taxes and they are good citizens. It would be amazing if all families could thrive as they do.
I know a man who was one of 23 children here in Oklahoma and they managed just fine, there was plenty of love to go around for all their children, their father worked and paid taxes and the kids turned out to be responsible, caring adults who contributed their bit to society. I worked with another woman who was one of 24 children and she was a happy productive human being too. People should be concerned about how their own families turn out instead offamily of 19 criticizing others just because of size.
I find it hard to think about the family, because I keep thinking about the mothers' pelvic floor. I hope she has been doing her Kegel Exercises. I had a Vaginal Repair after only two pregnancies.
They would have to be a very organised and disciplined family just to get breakfast ready in the morning. I hope they get all the assistance they need and that they are all healthy.
If all children were raised the way the duggar children are being raised we could still leave our doors unlocked,walk down the street at night without worry, have respectful children, stop bringing illegals into the country to work. Why do you think they don't pay taxes on all that real estate? If they raised gangsters, drug addicts, and criminals, no one would be putting them down. If this isn't a world gone upside down, I don't know what is.

What do I think? They are in need of a TV that's what... 19 kids?! No wonder we are running out of resources because of the very selfish people like this who think they 'must' breed and end up putting more strain on the planet as it is. Why oh why could they not adopt?? They could have gave so many unwanted children a chance to have a home. The Duggar family are nothing but selfish planet-polluting breeders. If they don't pay taxes then they must be on welfare.
They seem to be a loving family,i watch the show every time its on.My only concern is so much responsibility on the older kids.I wonder how much they are making being on the show.Geez i wish i would of thought years ago that i could make money out of having a bunch of kids.Also what are those poor jr. fire fighter girls gonna do when they gotta climb a ladder?God bless em.

Otherwise, I'm a fan of ZPG. There will come day that American families will not be allowed to have so many children. So...enjoy it while you can.
Yes they do pay taxes, and why should you care what religion they are or that they don't use birth control. They support their kids, they don't rely on others, so what business is it of yours. They aren't doing anything to hurt you.
more families like that afamily of 19nd you don't have to worry about immigrants , they create jobs , new homes , schools, roads , shops all have to be built , when they leave school to work, more taxes the govt. get. it's a win win situation for all
I have a hard time understanding why these people are celebrities. It boggles the mind. And if that's true about the taxes, which I don't know, then that's an abuse of the system.
I have no problem with them as people, however I think people absolutely need to start thinking about the consequences of population growth on the environment and our natural resources.
I think it`s irresponsible. In 3 generations that`s enough people to populate a village and having to provide housing and all the amenities that go with it.
I think if they can cantrol them as well as they do, it's okay. Though if her having too many kids leads to complications, she should maybe tie the tubes or something!
I don't buy it. It's irresponsibility at the highest level. They might play it up to look good on TV, but I'd still love to be a mouse in the corner...nothing is as good as it seems especially if everyone knows it's being filmed.
I came from a large family of 6 and things weren't as rosy as it looked on the family Christmas photo.

Now THAT'S a lot of kids! They could have their own baseball team. The thing I wonder about is when a window, lamp or flower vase breaks, how do they know who did it??
