There is a vocal chord that when they either constrict muscles of relax muscles (I believe its constricts) vibrates causing the purring sound. Why they purr is a mystery, the belief that they purr when they are content isn't entirely true because they have shown in studies that when a female cat is giving birth, which is obviously painful, she often purrs. Good question, I'm going to have to research that further. J
THEY PURR WHEN THEdo kittens purrY ARE CONTENT,HOW..WHO CARES,REALLY I JUST DONT KNOW HOW.
Cats only purr when they have us to snuggle with. How? They have what is called a false vocal-cord that makes the sound.
Some sort of Vocal Chord and I dunno how it's done at all.
But I think they are happy when they purr (especially if the Puur is really loud)
they sort of draw their vocal chords really close together when they are really content. then they start inhaling anddo kittens purr exhaling, which passes over the vocal chords, which produces a humming, vibrating, sound
Cats also will purr when very ill, when just having company, or dying. At the vets, there were quite a few cats that purred their last breath out. I know, its sad, but true.
Cats purr when they are happy they purr from a vocal cord
I don't know how they do, but I know why they do. They purr when they are happy and content.
